December 16, 2009 --- Tonight dress rehearsal for Christmas concert! Tonight, Liebrecht will play during the dress rehearsal for the Christmas concert on December 18, in Edegem, near Anwerp.
The concert will take place in the 'Basiliek', 1,200 people are expected to attend this wonderful evening.
The concert will consist of a variety of performances throughout the evening : Liebrecht on the piano, Glenn Van Looy (euphonium), Lien Haegeman (alto), the choir Scaldis cantat, Barbara Dex & band... It will be a mix of classical music, popular christmas songs & evergreens, dancing acts, etc. ...
Join us on this great Christmas evening (and yes, there will be snow!)
December 14, 2009 --- Elisabethiade Tour 2009 great success! Yesterday, the last concert of the Elisabethiade Tour 2009 was played on the famous stage of the Capitole in Ghent.
In total, almost 5000 people will have attended this concert tour in places like Bornem, Leuven, Maasmechelen, Kortrijk, Knokke, Antwerp and Ghent.
All soloists, orchestra members & conductor and Elisabethiade Leuven are excited and hope to collaborate again in the future.
Thanks to the audience as well, this tour was a real success! November 9, 2009 --- Rehearsals for Elisabethiade Tour 2009 have started! Today, the rehearsals for the big Elisabethiade Tour have started.
This tour consists of 7 concerts, all over Flanders (see concerts page).
On the program : Beethoven's famous Triple Concerto, hardly played in public, but absolutely a master piece!
Liebrecht will play the piano part, Queen Elisabeth laureate Yossif Ivanov will play the violin part and Roel Dieltiens will play the cello part.
The chamber orchestra 'Camerata con Cor(d)e' will accompany the soloists during this magnificent tour.

The first concert, the 'premiere', is on November 11 in Bornem, Liebrecht's former home community. October 23, 2009 --- Official release Schumann CD (Aliud Records) On Saturday, November 7, Liebrecht's new Schumann album (on the Aliud label - the Netherlands) will be officially presented and released at the piano factory of MAENE in Ruiselede, Belgium.
Liebrecht will play excerpts from his new CD, which includes recordings of Schumann's First Piano Sonata opus 11, the Scenes of Childhood opus 15 and Carnival Jest from Vienna opus 26.
A short recital will be followed by a reception and an official signing session for the public.

During the past week, Liebrecht recorded his new Schumann album in the concert hall of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, a hall he knows very well of course (Liebrecht studied in Brussels for 4 years and performed on this stage during numerous concerts, his Master's recitals, the Queen Elisabeth Competition....)
Liebrecht made a recording of Schumann's first sonata in f sharp minor (opus 11), the 'Kinderszenen" (opus 15) and 'Faschingsschwank aus Wien' (opus 26).
The coming weeks, the recordings will be mastered.
The release of Liebrecht's brand new album is to be expected in early November.
More details will follow in October.

August 10, 2009 --- Debute recital @ 'Les Sommets du Classique' in Crans-Montana (CH) On August 13, Liebrecht will play his debute recital at the festival 'Les Sommets du Classique' in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.
Liebrecht will play a complete Schumann program.

January 17, 2009 - Liebrecht wins Bornem Cultural Prize 2009 ! Yesterday evening, after his sold out piano recital in CC Ter Dilft Bornem, Liebrecht was awarded the Cultural Prize of Bornem 2009.
The prize was offered by the mayor of Bornem, Jozef Van Eetvelt.
Liebrecht was highly commended for his success on the world famous international Queen Elisabeth Competition, for being a cultural ambassador for Bornem in Belgium and abroad.
February 6, 2009 - Liebrecht meets Rachmaninoff Liebrecht is soon playing the Third Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto (D minor, opus 30) with two different orchestras : the National Orchestra of Belgium and the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra.

"For sixteen years no Flemish musician managed a prize in the renowned
Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition of Belgium. But in 2007
the pianist Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort succeeded in repeating the feat of
his teacher Jan Michiels in 1991.
On this Phaedra production Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort pays homage to
Mendelssohn, whose 200th birthday we celebrate in 2009. Mendelssohn is
one of Liebrecht's favorite composers. No wonder he plays his music in a
manner it would be difficult to surpass. Besides a number of magnificent
"Lieder ohne Worte" he plays the "Variations sérieuses", arguably
Menselssohn's greatest solo work for the piano, the marvelous "Rondo
Capriccioso" and the a minor piano concerto. This most poetic but at the
same time most virtuoso work, half an hour long, has remained almost
unknown, and the catalogue reveals but few recordings of it. It was
written by the then thirteen-year-old Mendelssohn for his private orchestra.
This brand-new recording intends to be a worthy contribution to the

CONCERT SEASON 2008-2009 -------------------

Dear visitor,
The concert season 2007-2008 has been very busy. Last Sunday, Liebrecht played his last piano recital of the season in Mechelen, performing three Beethoven sonatas during the 'Expecting Beethoven' Festival.
In the coming months, he will prepare another busy yet interesting concert season 2008-2009 : Liebrecht will perform not less than 11 times during the Festival of Flandres; he is invited to play as a soloist with the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Kölner Akademie, the European Union Chamber Orchestra, Arc-en-Ciel, ...in Rachmaninov's piano concertos nrs 2 & 3, Beethoven's piano concerto nr. 2, Mozart's piano concertos nrs. 15, 20 & 23.

But first of all : Liebrecht's next CD with solo works and the concerto for piano and string orchestra by Felix Mendelssohn will be recorded in July. You may expect this CD in October 2008.
